At the moment we are studying the novel 'Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry' by Mildred D Taylor.
Set in the American south during the Great Depression, the novel tells the story of the Logan family from the point of view of the family's only daughter, Cassie.
You might like to read up a little on the context of the Great Depression and the history of racial segregation in America.
